Printed Water Bottles with No Minimum Order - The Facts

printed water bottles

Looking to promote your brand without committing to a huge bulk order? Printed water bottles with no minimum order sound like the obvious answer, especially for a small business, a startup or a one-off event. Before you go down that route, it is worth understanding what "no minimum" actually buys you, what it costs, and where the better value usually sits.

A note on where we stand: Just Bottle is a supplier with a minimum order, so we are not a neutral voice on this. Our minimum is 25 bottles. At 25 you pay our full per-unit price (still all-in, with your logo, shipping and duties included); from 50 bottles wholesale pricing starts to apply. We think the reasoning below holds up regardless, and we have tried to be fair about when a no-minimum supplier is the right call.

Short answer: "no minimum order" means you can buy one branded bottle, but you pay retail price plus a setup fee, with limited branding and usually a lower-grade print. If you need one to ten bottles for a gift or a prototype, that is fine. If you need 20 or more, a low minimum (25 at Just Bottle, with wholesale pricing from 50) gives you a lower cost per bottle, proper branding methods like laser engraving and raised print, a free mock-up and one consistent batch. The crossover point is lower than most people expect.

What "printed water bottles with no minimum order" actually means

The phrase refers to buying custom-branded bottles without meeting a supplier's minimum quantity, sometimes ordering a single unit. It exists because, for years, promotional suppliers required hundreds or thousands of bottles per order. That suited mass production and shut out smaller companies, so a group of print-on-demand suppliers removed the minimum altogether.

What the phrase does not tell you is how the bottle gets made. A one-off order cannot go through the same process as a batch, so no-minimum suppliers rely on methods that work for a single unit: a printed wrap or sticker, a basic UV print, or a stock bottle with a small logo area. The trade-offs follow from that:

  • You pay full retail price per bottle, with no volume discount.
  • A setup or logo fee is usually added to cover the one-off artwork and print run.
  • Branding options are limited: a fixed logo position, a small print area, a short colour list.
  • The print is less durable than batch methods such as laser engraving or raised print.

So "no minimum" is a real option, but it is a retail product with a logo on it, not a branded merchandise order.

Who no-minimum bottles are right for

There are cases where flexibility matters more than cost per unit:

A handful of gifts. Five bottles for a leadership team, one for a retiring colleague, a thank-you for a speaker. Paying retail is fine.

A prototype. You want to see your logo on a bottle before deciding on a programme. (A low-minimum supplier should also give you a free digital mock-up and let you buy a sample, which does the same job.)

A genuine one-off. A single event with ten attendees and no plan to repeat it.

If your need looks like one of those, a no-minimum supplier is the sensible choice and you should not feel pushed into 25 or 50 bottles you will not use.

Higher cost per unit

Buying one bottle means paying retail for it, and most no-minimum suppliers add a logo setup fee on top, sometimes per design. Add shipping and the cost of a single branded bottle can approach what a batch of 25 costs per unit at a low-minimum supplier. Once you are past about 15 bottles, the no-minimum option is almost always the more expensive one.

Limited branding

Single-unit printing uses methods that work on one bottle at a time, which usually means a small logo area, fixed placement and a short colour list. Batch methods such as laser engraving (on stainless steel) and raised full-colour print allow Pantone matching, multiple positions and, on some bottles, a wrap around the whole body. If colour accuracy and placement matter to your brand, this is the biggest difference.

Lower print durability

Stickers peel, wraps scuff and basic UV prints fade with dishwashing and daily use. A branded bottle that looks tired after a month is worse for your brand than no bottle at all. Laser engraving is permanent, and raised print is designed to survive years of use. Our post on why logos look different on a bottle than on screen covers how to get the artwork right the first time.

Inconsistent batches

Ordering two now and three next month means two different print runs, often two slightly different colours. One batch of 25 or 50 gives every bottle the same finish, which matters when they are on a desk next to each other or in a photo.

Environmental cost

Ordering fewer items sounds greener, but repeated small shipments, individual packaging and lower-grade materials (aluminium with a plastic lining, thin plastics) add up. A single consolidated shipment of durable stainless steel bottles that people keep for years is the lower-impact choice. At Just Bottle, every 100 bottles ordered also funds the collection of 10 kg of ocean-bound plastic through Plastic Bank, roughly 500 plastic bottles.

Why 25 and not zero: how a low minimum works

Here is how we have set our minimum, so you can judge the logic for yourself.

25 bottles at full price. This is the smallest order we can brand with our in-house methods and still send a proper mock-up, run quality checks and ship as one consignment. You pay our standard per-unit price. It is all-in (bottle, branding, shipping and duties to your door), there is no setup fee, and you get the same laser engraving or ColourLift™ raised print as a 1,000-unit order. It is not wholesale pricing, and we do not pretend it is.

50 bottles and above, wholesale pricing. At 50 the per-unit price steps down, with further breaks at 100, 250 and 500. This is where most businesses land for welcome kits, events and client gifting, and it is why "low minimum" and "wholesale pricing" usually appear together.

Three delivery options. Express in about 2 weeks, standard in about 5 weeks, or flexible in about 12 weeks. When you can wait, we use cheaper logistics and pass the saving on.

Mock-up and sample. Send your artwork and the design team returns a free mock-up within a day, with revisions until it is right. You can buy a sample of most bottles before committing.

Compare that with a no-minimum order of, say, 20 bottles: retail price times 20, a setup fee, retail shipping, and a sticker-grade print. For 20 or more bottles, the low-minimum route is cheaper per bottle and a better product. For five, it is not, and a no-minimum supplier is the right answer.

What to look for in any printed bottle supplier

Whichever route you take, the same checks apply:

  • Material. 304-grade stainless steel or borosilicate glass over lined aluminium or thin plastic. See are aluminium water bottles safe?
  • Branding method. Ask whether it is a sticker or wrap, a UV print, raised print or laser engraving, and how it holds up in a dishwasher.
  • A proof before production. You should see your logo on the bottle before anything is made.
  • All-in pricing. Shipping, duties and setup should be in the quote, not added at checkout.
  • Who else they have worked with. A supplier that has delivered for recognisable brands is a safer bet than a marketplace print shop.

How ordering works at a low minimum

  1. Choose the bottle. Style (insulated steel, glass, rPET), size (500 ml to 1.2 L) and colour. Our custom logo water bottles start from 25 units.
  2. Send your artwork. A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) gives the cleanest result. The design team will tell you if anything needs adjusting.
  3. Approve the mock-up. You receive a digital proof within a day showing placement, size and colours, and revise until it is right.
  4. Confirm the quote. One all-in figure for your quantity and delivery timeline, with no setup fees.
  5. Production and delivery. Express about 2 weeks, standard about 5, flexible about 12. Planning a larger run? Our guide to how to order custom water bottles in bulk covers quantities, samples and keeping every batch consistent.

Quality over quantity, even at low volumes

Printed water bottles with no minimum order are the right product for a handful of bottles and the wrong product for a team, an event or a merchandise programme. The honest crossover is somewhere between 10 and 20 bottles: below it, buy retail; above it, a low minimum gives you a better bottle at a lower price per unit, with wholesale pricing from 50. We set our minimum at 25 because that is the smallest order we can do properly. If your need is smaller than that, a no-minimum supplier will serve you well. If it is larger, explore our branded water bottles and request a quote from any product page.

Frequently asked questions

Are printed water bottles with no minimum order more expensive per unit?

Yes. A one-off order is charged at retail price per bottle, usually with a setup or logo fee added. A low minimum order of 25 removes the setup fee and uses batch branding, and from 50 units wholesale pricing applies, so the cost per bottle falls further.

What is Just Bottle's minimum order?

25 bottles. At 25 you pay our full per-unit price, all-in with your logo, shipping and duties included. Wholesale pricing starts at 50 units, with further price breaks at 100, 250 and 500.

Can I still customise my design with no minimum order?

Usually only within limits: a fixed logo position, a small print area and a short colour list, because one-off methods are stickers, wraps or basic UV print. Orders of 25 or more at Just Bottle get laser engraving or full-colour raised print, Pantone matching and multiple logo positions.

Is there a quality difference between no-minimum and low-minimum bottles?

Often, yes. No-minimum bottles tend to be stock items with a sticker or UV print that scuffs and fades. Low-minimum orders use 304 stainless steel or glass with permanent laser engraving or raised print, and every bottle in the batch matches.

Do you charge a setup fee?

No. Pricing is all-in, so the quote covers the bottle, branding, shipping and duties. You also receive a free digital mock-up within a day before anything is produced.

What is the best option for a small business: no minimum or a low minimum?

If you need fewer than about 10 bottles, a no-minimum supplier is the better fit. If you need 20 or more, a low minimum of 25 is cheaper per bottle and gives you a professional product, and 50 unlocks wholesale pricing. Most small businesses ordering for a team or an event land at 50 to 100.
